WHAT TO EXPECT

One of the most frequently asked questions I hear when it comes to boudoir photography is: What should I expect from my photo shoot? and how should I prepare for my boudoir session?

You can expect that:
- I will professionally and respectfully coach you through your poses and session in a comfortable and private environment.
- You will be nervous but these nerves will subside with every moment during your session.
- That I will choose the poses that will flatter your body type, you may not love EVERY shot, but the goal is to find a reasonable amount of your boudoir shots that you absolutely love.
- That the shoot will remain at YOUR comfort level. Boudoir does not need to mean lingerie shots and I will be able to make you look sexy in even a pretty dress or sweater. If you do want nudity you should check with me and decide at what point in the shoot to make that transition.
- That your photos will remain private unless you sign a model release.
- That you will have the time of your life!

What should I BRING to my boudoir photo session?
I suggest that you bring a few of your favorite lingerie outfits. Some of the most flattering outfits are: a simple black corset or a babydoll. I also suggest boy short undies, high heels and killer push up bra at the very least.   Also, a flattering sweater or any other item of clothing that makes you feel great.  If you feel great,it will shine through into your photos.

What should I wear for my boudoir shoot?

When it comes to your boudoir photo shoot, there are limitless options for your clothing and outfit choices. Many women like to wear sexy, provocative lingerie such as corsets, teddies, and fishnet stockings. Above all, you should wear something that you feel comfortable in! If you are looking for sexy lingerie, we suggest looking at some of my favourite lingerie retailers, such as: Victoria’s Secret,Lingere.co.nz and Zodee. It’s also helpful to note that it is not necessary to wear lingerie for your boudoir session. A lot of women wear sexy, edgy outfits that resemble an outfit that would be styled for a fashion editorial spread in a magazine like Vogue or W Magazine.

What about hair and makeup?
Unless you know how to do camera-ready make-up on yourself, then professional make-up for your boudoir shoot is a must!  I have a number of professional makeup artists that I use.  www.flawlessbysue.co.nz

I’m not very sexy; will you help me with posing and expression?

Rest easy knowing that I will help you with posing and expression.  It is my job to coach you and make you look your absolute best. You shouldn’t have to worry about that factor at all.

How much skin will I be showing in my boudoir photo shoot?
This should be up to you! As the client, you ought to have full control over how much skin you do (or do not) want to show off in your boudoir shoot. Maxim, more of a men’s magazine look or Victoria’s Secret, more cute, with a bra and panty set covering all areas, or Playboy look, with the end result showing more skin in a provocative, sexy photo shoot.

Where will my boudoir photos be taken?
In my studio or on-location.

Should I go tanning before my photography session?
No! Most boudoir photographers will discourage fake tanning or spray tanning before a boudoir photo shoot. I have seen far too many tanning debacles in my career. Not to mention that with some of the lighting and filters that I may use can make the tan look extremely orange in the photos.

I don’t want my photos to end up online; will you be posting these photos on your website or blog?

If you have signed a model release, you will have been briefed on my policies in regards to image use.  You can agree for me to use one or two images or all of them or none of them.  I will respect your choice and our contract will be binding.  I will always notify or ask you permission if I intend to use an image for marketing.  Any nudes will be completely private.
